COVID-19 in California: The Most Affected Industries

COVID-19 came to change everyone’s life, personally and business-wise. After almost eight months since the first COVID-19 patient was reported in the United States, businesses keep learning how to survive and thrive despite the pandemic.

As of August 3rd, there are 512,849 confirmed cases in California. The number is still scary; however statewide COVID-19 positivity rate has decreased to 6.4%, and many businesses reopened, following social distancing guidelines.

It’s undeniable that most industries would be affected by the economic disruption from COVID-19, and we started seeing it in the massive layoffs that happened between March and April. According to the California Budget & Policy Center, based on the number of jobs from 2019 in California, these are the industries that would be immediately affected by COVID-19:
